Q. – How do I know if I am a member
of Council #10?
A. – Council #10 members have $12 taken
out of their paycheck each month. Individuals
in Council #10 bargaining units that are not members
have $10.20 taken out of their paycheck as an
“agency shop fee” for the service
Council #10 provides them.
Q. – What are the benefits of becoming
a member of Council #10?
A. – Only Council #10 members are eligible
to vote for and be elected as Council #10 representatives,
including shop stewards, Trustees, and Officers
(President, Vice President, Treasurer, Recording
Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, and Sergeant
at Arms). Only members can vote in contract ratifications.
Only members can attend General Membership meetings
and ask questions or voice their opinion on current
issues. Only members are eligible for certain
member benefits including the $500 death benefit,
the scholarship program, and many Council #10
events.
Q. – How do I become a member of Council
#10?
A. – If you are employed in a Council #10
bargaining unit and are not a member, you already
pay the “agency shop fee” of $10.20
per month through a payroll deduction. In order
to be a member, contact your Shop Steward or Trustee
for a membership application form or contact the
Council #10 office directly. Once the application
form is processed through the Council #10 office
and through your employer, you will pay a one
time only initiation fee of fifteen ($15) dollars
and the regular dues of twelve ($12) dollars per
month through payroll deductions.
Q. – How do I file a grievance?
A. – Seek the assistance of your shop steward
or trustee. Grievances should be submitted on
the form provided by Council #10. Grievances must
be submitted in a timely manner. Your shop steward
can assist you in determining the time limit in
your contract. If the grievance is filed late,
it may be considered “timed out”,
and management is free to ignore it. The grievance
must clearly state the problem and the desired
remedy. Contract violation grievances must cite
the section being violated. Grievances should
generally be directed to the immediate supervisor.
Q. – How does my child apply for a Henry
J. Dunn, III scholarship?
A. – Applications are available at all Camden
County high schools beginning in January. The
applicant must be a high school senior planning
to attend college the following fall.
The applicant must be the son or daughter of a
Council #10 member in good standing. The applicant must be certified
by his/her high school guidance office as prepared for college. The selection
will be made in a lottery drawing from all eligible
applications at the March General Membership Meeting.
Q. – How does my child receive the Henry
J. Dunn, III scholarship payment if he or she
is selected?
A. – Students awarded a scholarship must
submit a college transcript indicating he/she earned a minimum of 12 college credits in the first semester of college. Upon
receipt of the transcript, Council #10 will send
payment of the scholarship directly to the student’s
account at the institution he or she is attending.
Q. - How do I use the Council #10 Dental Plan?
(Eligible County, C.C.H.S.C., Gloucester Township
Public Works, and Camden Parking Authority members
only)
A. – Members using Dr. John Kernan should
contact him directly @ 869-8660 for service. A
Dental Plan benefit brochure that explains the
benefit and the fee schedule is available. Members
wishing to use another dentist must be enrolled
in the Freedom of Choice Plan. Open enrollment
is mid December to late January. Once enrolled,
members must submit a reimbursement form (available
from your shop steward or trustee) that is completed
by your dentist. Reimbursement will be according
to a schedule of allowances. Members will be responsible
for any additional expense.
Q. – What do I do if I am not seeing all
Council #10 literature?
A. – Advise the Council #10 office via email
or at (856) 541-4191. Council #10 has a distribution

work site is not receiving flyers, newsletters
or other literature, we want to know and will
work to make the correction.
