Death Benefit: After
three full years of membership, an active member’s
designated beneficiary is entitled to a $500 death
benefit if the member passes away. New members
should complete a beneficiary designation form so that they automatically become eligible upon
their third anniversary.
Vision Benefit: Employees and their dependents in those bargaining units (Camden County, Health Services Center, County Library, City of Camden, and Gloucester Twp. Public Works) for which we receive a Health & Welfare contribution from the employer are eligible for a Vision Benefit through UnitedHealthcare Vision. The co-pay is $10 exam/$15 materials (summary of benefits). A list of providers is available on the UnitedHealthcare Vision website and from the Council #10 office. Contact the Council #10 office regarding unresolved issues.
Scholarship Fund: The children
of Council #10 members are eligible for Henry
J. Dunn III scholarships during their senior year
of high school. The number and amount of scholarships
may vary each year, but the chance of an applicant
receiving a scholarship is great. Applicants must
meet the requirements of the program to be eligible.
Scholarships are awarded in March. Applications are available through high school guidance offices
or from the union office during January and February.
Dental Care: Eligible Council
#10 members and their dependents are provided
with dental services through Dr. John Kernan,
D.M.D., P.A. Dr. Kernan is located in the Westmont
Plaza, Cuthbert Road and MacArthur Boulevard in
Westmont (856) 869-8660. A freedom of choice plan
is also available to eligible members. Review
the dental plan brochure and the "Comparison of
Closed Dental Plan & Freedom of Choice Dental
Plan Benefits" information sheet for more information.
Members selecting the "Freedom of Choice" plan
must submit a "Freedom of Choice Plan Dental Reimbursement
Form" for reimbursement. Not all bargaining units
participate in the Council #10 plan. Members unsure
of eligibility should check with a shop steward
or trustee. Eligible members are also eligible
for retiree dental benefits. Review the retiree
dental plan form for more information. The accompanying
application must be submitted at the time of retirement
along with payment to obtain retiree coverage.
Discount Parking in Downtown Camden:
Discounted parking is available in downtown Camden
to Council #10 members. Contact the union office
for more information.
Note: Health/Prescription
and other negotiated benefits are available to
eligible members through their employer. Review
your labor contract, contact your shop steward
or trustee, or contact your employer's personnel
office or insurance office for more information.
