about council #10

Death Benefit: After three full years of membership, an active member’s designated beneficiary is entitled to a $500 death benefit if the member passes away. New members should complete a beneficiary designation form so that they automatically become eligible upon their third anniversary.

Vision Benefit: Employees and their dependents in those bargaining units (Camden County, Health Services Center, County Library, City of Camden, and Gloucester Twp. Public Works) for which we receive a Health & Welfare contribution from the employer are eligible for a Vision Benefit through UnitedHealthcare Vision. The co-pay is $10 exam/$15 materials (summary of benefits). A list of providers is available on the UnitedHealthcare Vision website and from the Council #10 office. Contact the Council #10 office regarding unresolved issues.

Scholarship Fund: The children of Council #10 members are eligible for Henry J. Dunn III scholarships during their senior year of high school. The number and amount of scholarships may vary each year, but the chance of an applicant receiving a scholarship is great. Applicants must meet the requirements of the program to be eligible. Scholarships are awarded in March. Applications are available through high school guidance offices or from the union office during January and February.

Dental Care
: Eligible Council #10 members and their dependents are provided with dental services through Dr. John Kernan, D.M.D., P.A. Dr. Kernan is located in the Westmont Plaza, Cuthbert Road and MacArthur Boulevard in Westmont (856) 869-8660. A freedom of choice plan is also available to eligible members. Review the dental plan brochure and the "Comparison of Closed Dental Plan & Freedom of Choice Dental Plan Benefits" information sheet for more information. Members selecting the "Freedom of Choice" plan must submit a "Freedom of Choice Plan Dental Reimbursement Form" for reimbursement. Not all bargaining units participate in the Council #10 plan. Members unsure of eligibility should check with a shop steward or trustee. Eligible members are also eligible for retiree dental benefits. Review the retiree dental plan form for more information. The accompanying application must be submitted at the time of retirement along with payment to obtain retiree coverage.

Discount Parking in Downtown Camden
: Discounted parking is available in downtown Camden to Council #10 members. Contact the union office for more information.

Note
: Health/Prescription and other negotiated benefits are available to eligible members through their employer. Review your labor contract, contact your shop steward or trustee, or contact your employer's personnel office or insurance office for more information.
