Council #10 is an independent labor union representing approximately 2,000 public employees in Camden County. At one time, Council #10 was part of the New Jersey Civil Service Association. In the 1980's we split from the other councils in the NJCSA but retained our name as Camden County Council #10. As an independent union, we answer only to our members.
The elected officers of Council #10 are the President, Vice President, Financial Secretary/Treasurer, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, and Sergeant-at-Arms. Officers are elected to 3-year terms.
Members of the Board of Trustees are elected to two year terms. The Board of Trustees meet monthly to determine Council #10 policies. They have general supervision over the finances. They also approve expenditures for litigation related to disciplinary appeals, arbitration, etc.
As defined in our Constitution and Bylaws, Council #10's principal mission is to obtain fair wages and benefits for the employees it represents. In addition, it works to ensure that every represented employee is respected for the work that they perform. As a means to these goals, it works with management to improve the workplace for both management and labor, maintain employees' jobs, and improve services. Council #10 strongly believes in Joint Labor-Management Committees and participates in such committees with most employers.
Our office at #330 Market Street (at the corner of Fourth and Market Streets) is open to you during business hours (M-F 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.). Council #10 works to keep all
members informed. We publish a quarterly newsletter,
the "Workforce" and
regularly post announcements on work site bulletin
boards. We also update this website on a regular basis. The newsletters and postings are distributed
through your trustees and shop stewards. If your
work site is not receiving them, please let us
know. We will work to ensure your worksite gets
them.
